    Content Notes > Content Warnings

Content notes not only let people choose what to see, they are a simple and fun microgame.

I follow NSFW. There is a box saying 'Click for dick' pic. I want, I click, I get dick pic. Anticipation -> engagement -> reward.

Mastodon 4.x fails this, when posting:
    - ! button, hazard bar, content "WARNING": implies your content is bad so must warn. As if 'good' content shouldn't have a CN; Wrong!

Mastodon 5.x apparently hides the 'warning' button in a submenu. Please fix this..

IMO Content Note should be an optional default-empty [Title] box that is always there.

I think of Content Notes as like an **e-mail title**. You clicked the title of *this* post to find out more.

Content Notes/titles are a great interactive feature of Mastodon! Mastodon 5 should encourage their use!

@cai I think about how activitypub calls the "content warning" the "subject" instead. Calling the subject line a "content warning" feels like a design choice that speaks to the judgements of the Mastodon dev team.

(tho, apparently Mastodon added AP support after its initial creation)

@cai Anyways, this is to say I definitely agree that adding a subject to your post and threads should be made something more mundane and first-class instead of THIS POST HAS SCARY STUFF.
