(but seriously, best of luck to everyone patching today)

Lol.

First of all, ✨ I was a DEI hire once ✨

Ya girl had studied PolSci, and didn't have the attention span yet for her big girl job as a policy worker in Parliament, so she applied for a junior dev role. I already knew some programming, because as students we were always protesting something, and protesters need a website (html, css, javascript, php).

Capgemini gave me a Java bootcamp. Quote: "this will look great for our diversity numbers." Despite the wording, I'm still grateful they hired me. ❤️

In honor of #FOSDEM rejecting our Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Belonging (DEIB) track, and time permitting, I will be posting numbers about diversity in tech and my personal experiences in IT today.

Feel encouraged to share numbers and experiences as well ❤️

We had an inclusive coalition of organisations willing to sponsor speakers, we were designing cool "not a techbro" stickers, and just lots of cool ideas to platform #FOSS people we generally don't see at #FOSDEM.

At a time where female representation in #opensource is at 9.8% (let alone any other intersectionalities), tech bro culture is infiltrating open source projects, and marginalized communities increasingly rely on these FOSS alternatives, we thought this track would be a no brainer.

I'm actually a bit upset about this. 🙁

@RosannaSibora , @_elena and I, and a whole coalition of open source orgs were hoping to organize a track at #FOSDEM27 about Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Belonging (DEIB) in #FOSS.

It got rejected.

Alright screw it, pink it is 🥳🔥 Now I just need a new keyboard and mouse. Do I go with:

a) the small and portable Pebble 2 Combo https://www.logitech.com/nl-nl/shop/p/pebble-2-keyboard-mouse-combo.920-012241 or
b) the larger Wave Key and Lift Combo? https://www.logitech.com/en-us/shop/p/wave-keys-and-lift-combo.920-013612

I need to buy a new headset for work. Full honesty plz: will I still be taken seriously if I rock up with a pink headset? 🌸

My first official conference on behalf of @openproject . Come say hi if you're at the Smart Country Conference in Berlin 👋🥳

#opensource #openproject #SCCON #Berlin

@_elena @oscl @paolo we have lots of cool talks at our track, but I'm also really excited to for our "Institutions on the Fediverse" panel.

This panel brings together experts who have brought prestigious cultural and public institutions on the Fediverse. 👏

We have the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK), the French Ministry of Culture, and @manfredzielinski is going to talk about social.overheid.nl, the Dutch gov Mastodon instance. :mastodon:

@_elena @oscl @paolo btw I had the honor of meeting the OSPO of the country of Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, which was so incredibly cool. They're doing great things over there, glad they were invited to the EU OSPO network 🥳

The Open Source Conference Luxembourg has started! 🥳🥳

@_elena and I are organising the Decentralized and Federated track. It's in Building D, come say hi! 👋

This years @oscl brings together governments, lots of open source projects, and even the UN!

Compliments to @paolo for the excellent organisation! 👏

Sweden is also choosing @forgejo for their digitally sovereign government codeplatform, just like the Dutch code.overheid.nl 🥳🥳

https://github.com/diggsweden/ena-kodsamverkansplattform-poc

This is a nice step towards less dependence on US big tech, aka Github.

In my last days at the @BZKopensource I hope to set up a working group with other EU governments, to work towards a federated network of codeplatforms 🇪🇺

Nice work Switzerland! 👏👏

European governments are starting to support alternative mobile app stores, such as @fdroidorg , for their government-built apps.

Next up, government issued (fair)phones for civil servants that come with an open OS and open app store? 🚀

Save me from having to use AI.

What is the Mediterranean equivalent of Bern, Switzerland? #moveabroad

I'm having a lot of feelings about the state of the world today.

Reminder: 8 days left to submit talks! 🚀
