this one is quite obscure. At about 50 seconds into the final track ("Pluto, then re-entry to earth") from the #KLF 1990 ambient LP "Space", the strings from #EnnioMorricone's soundtrack to the movie #TheMission swell up from deep in space as our virtual space ship whizzes past. And my heart fills with wonder.
I don't know who the credit goes to - #JimmyCauty for making "Space" or Morricone for his soundtrack. But then that is post-modernism for you, isn't it?

#Fripp and #Eno #EveningStar LP (1975)
My housemate had this on tape and I have misremembered pretty much every part of this release (apart from the fact Eno was on it). I thought it was Cluster and Eno. I thought it was a concept album about inert elements from the periodic table of elements so I am surprised I manged to track this down and share it.
This is pure bliss. The whole LP is great ambient business.

Second appearance for #AphexTwin in this list. #PancakeLizard is from the #DonkeyRhubarb 12" which also features the excellent #IcctHedral #PhilipGlass remix. The Donkey Rhubarb e.p. is IMO underrated, it came at a time when I had almost given up on Aphex Twin because he was definitely taking the piss if you hadn't noticed.
Anyway, Pancake Lizard makes the list because it is achingly beautiful and sad and made me cry one day, probably back in the 90s.
