One of my faves is Henry the Pole-Vaulting Fish, an immortal fish who lives in Wakulla Springs in North Florida and famously "pole vaults" by swimming over an underwater pole near the springhead.

Increased pollution in recent decades has made the previously crystal-clear waters of the spring too murky and they no longer run the glass-bottomed boat tours, so most children nowadays will never be able to witness Henry... but he's still there.

(And some say that one day he'll have his revenge on those who have befouled his home.)
