Look who I found at the 45Drives Creator Summit! A wild @allanjude, @Level1Techs, and @tomlawrence appear:

Note: Remi is pushing PHP updates for RedHat-derivative Linux distros now... amazing work, but hopefully not too much of a bother while away. Note you can donate to support Remi's repo: https://blog.remirepo.net

(And similarly for Ondrej on Deb/Ubuntu: https://deb.sury.org)

If you run any kind of PHP application on your server... it's time to patch. Except... the patch is not here yet.

Some info here: https://jackalsyn.com/posts/php-up-2026.html - but disabling upload progress *may* help, it's just not the full fix:

session.upload_progress.enabled = Off

Formlabs sent me a Form Studio 1 resin printer to test. It's $699 (compared to Form 4, it's almost 4x cheaper!), and it prints well.

But I also talked to their engineers a bit about value engineering, and why they dropped the Raspberry Pi in this model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l9xU3_36Xs

The Radxa Dragon 8QB is more than 2x faster than the Pi 5, has tons more I/O, and only costs a little more... but good luck finding one :(

Today's video goes into the details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUUuxkICOLw

NTS-200 NTP Time server from early 2000s was handed to me at VCF Midwest. It works! Just... off by 19 years ;)

I put a DC block on the antenna input though, don't want it to fry my GPS splitter! I may be able to get it to 2026, we'll see.

Only $300 off the $5,000 fundraising goal for the UOAA, thanks to the $2k matching gift from my livestream sponsor Twingate yesterday!

Huge thanks to them and to all of YOU who donated to help this worthy group helping ostomates everywhere! VOD here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vtFNuPM5zY

RAM's so expensive I don't know if I'll ever upgrade my PCs again.

So join me tomorrow while I upgrade my 1989 *Mac* SE/30, for the annual UOAA Ostomy Day fundraiser livestream! 9a Central / 10a Eastern / 2p UTC: https://youtube.com/live/-vtFNuPM5zY

AAAAH FIBER!!! After four years of pestering AT&T, it is finally here!

(And I can finally join the NTP Pool... eventually, it'll be a video of course!)

ShadyTel builds an entire phone company for one weekend, every year, at VCF Midwest. This year they added a GNSS frequency standard for their T1 network, and it was sitting under my NTP Time table! Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQdxlJQ5_fQ

Super Early Bird and Early Bird tickets sold out in <24h, and it's possible the rest of the tickets will be gone this week 😅

Trying to expand capacity a little, we'll see... I will also post hotel room block info soon. With how many people are coming from out of town, it'll probably fill up fast.

I'm starting a homelab festival (you're invited): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I0pjHC4U7I

Raspberry Pi is locking down RAM upgrades in firmware: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltofM26akZQ

I thought I had the best time at the largest vintage computing event in the world.

But then someone rolled up with a cesium atomic clock, and I was no longer sure...

Apple's considering entering the server market again, with the M8 Ultra.

But I found the axed rackmount server Apple was building in the late 90s at VCF Midwest—the ANS 300. Thanks to Mr. Macintosh for telling me more about it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tupEO0mrf0c

If you're at VCF Midwest, come all the way to the back corner and check out my NTP Time demo on a bunch of old Macs! (Starring an Xserve G5 with an acrylic cover). Also check out Mr. Macintosh's rack full 'o Xserves across the pod!
