Letting the wild things encroach on the lawn has been part of my sly plan to convert lawn into vegetable beds. If I just ripped the lawn out, the landlord would have left an angry note on my door, but if i let the weeds slowly claim this part of the lawn, each time i take the weeds out, i have a larger patch of dirt to plant things in.

This whole section was manicured grass a few years ago.
