It also seems that this discourse is causing discomfort of many over at lobsters. Tech's moral rot has a long history and spaces built upon the idea of apolitical interaction will get a rude awakening. It’s an oxymoron to treat computing as apolitical. Neutrality is anything but.

My opinion is that the techbros already had lobste.rs captured
before LLM was a thing. There were things you couldn't say
that were critical of any of the techbro status quo back then too.
I can't remember now because I stopped taking it seriously.

@pkw well sure. the bad politics have always been around we've just given it time to become deeply entrenched with the lie that we can remain apolitical if we don't acknowledge it.

@cararemixed Very true. An anti-fascist blogger I read actually got banned from lobsters for pointing out a fascist and saying something obviously hyperbolic in anger.

Then again, a lot of my tech choices are political ones, even if by happenstance.

@sinza The world is going to shit and mostly because of the selfish attitude of white men. I'm surprised people aren't more angry. These people who deny the obvious are terrible and almost everywhere in tech.

@cararemixed People don't give a damn because it makes their lives seem easier in the short term. And employers everywhere keeps pushing it upon us under threat of "retrenchement". Or being fired, in human-speak.

Too many (most?) people are stupid short-sighted egoists. It's a miracle we ain't all dead already.
