TFW you just want to check your #bind config and end up having it rotate your #DNSSEC keys without warning. 8 hours later, several public resolvers still cache the bad responses. sigh

Ask not what getRandom() can do 4 u, buwhat u can do 4 <insert CA here>

#Printers are truly among God's most evil creations. My dad's HP MFP just stopped accepting print jobs today. After a bit of digging, it turns out it has a TLS certificate which is needed for AirPrint and any other protocol using TLS.

It expired this week.

I'm fairly sure most people would toss the printer out and buy a new one. But if you hit the management interface in a browser (which is unauthenticated and plaintext by default, btw), you can have the printer generate a new self-signed certificate - after which it (AirPrint, at least) works again.

What in all the levels of hell is the point of enforcing the expiry dates of that cert when it's a bloody self-signed cert? His MacOS needed absolutely no coercing in order to accept the new one - that was just blindly accepted.

I mean .. what the actual fuck.

Went on a #retrocomputing raid to Berlin and came back with this pile. In some kind of order, bottom to top:

• #Sun Ultra 5 workstation
• Philips NMS 9100 XT-clone
• Booky #286 mini-PC w/display
• A box of random things, including some books, VGA and sound cards, manuals, tape drive, FPU, etc.
• Display for the Philips
• No-name, unknown #386 minitower (in box)
• Compaq SLT/286 "portable"
• Bunch of keyboards, including for the aforementioned machines
• 5l Kieler Bier
• Another random box; SCSI HDD, some powersupplies, etc.
• 5l Kieler Bier (yeah, two)
• Toshiba T1000 almost-working laptop
• IBM ThinkPad 380XD (working!)
• More keyboards

Arrrr! Most successful raid, indeed! This loot should keep me busy for months... ;-)

So we had @Edent and his wife visit our office, the #Floppy Museum, and our "retrocave" (all in the same place!) the other day. What excellent people.

Check out the thread for the second poll. And chime in with any ideas you might have!

My intention that any #OS2 nut can have an account and post their pictures and brags. If anyone wants to come aboard as co-sysop, I'm hiring! ;-)

To all you #OS2 lovers out there: I'm firing up a new fediverse instance solely for the purpose of posting OS/2-related pictures: Screenshots, pics of your OS/2 machines, OS/2 paraphernalia, OS/2 memorabilia, OS/2 just-about-anything.

I have two questions I'd like answered (no, "why" is not among them); the first here, the other in the replies.

First one: Which domain should I use? I've registered two, which to use?

Hey @leah I've stolen from your dosfetch by putting parts of its output (plus a couple lines I added) on my "business cards" for the Floppy Museum. I hope you don't mind.

I know, should have asked first. In my defense(?) distribution is going to be ... quite limited. :)

Looks like this: http://floppy.museum/card.pdf (and corresponding http://floppy.museum/cardback.pdf).
