Schools and parents still teach that expertise is an exercise in authority. I see this in my job when people try to accept advice I give when it's wrong (it's research, that happens). I also see it when people reject solid, basic, advice until the more senior PI repeats it. I see it in how my kids are taught. I see it in my conversations with community members who treat it as a status symbol. So as public health deals with RFK I've been thinking about how this becomes a problem.
