I don't follow how a local, "free as in beer" model does that.
We already see that there is no rational connection between "there being a regular business case for it" and "them doing what they do".
Even the subscription prices don't really offset the massive insane "investment" they made.
Heck, the entire thing is so utterly unhinged, implying a rational connection between the real world and what "THEY" do, actually requires some supportive arguments. (1/2?)
