    Cooler today, but still not much activity apart from the honeybees.

    I did see one of my favourites however – a buffalo treehopper (Stictocephala bisonia; 🇩🇪 Büffelzikade), & will try to get a head-on shot showing where the name comes from.

    That said, it's an invasive species from North America, now widespread in Europe.

    A side-on view of a mostly green leafhopper standing on the edge of a green leaf. The leafhopper has a very high back above the wings, rimmed in brown and yellow, with white spots. The legs are green and hairy, orange at the feet. The eye is black and cream patterned.

    And close by, this small grass veneer moth (tribe Crambini) was fluttering around.

    It's likely a pearl veneer (Agriphila straminella; 🇩🇪 Unscheinbarer Graszünsler), & the combination of blue-grey eyes & fluffy snout is quite something.

    This one is native to Europe & the Palearctic.

    A small moth seen from above with its wings folded along its body, on a large green leaf. The moth is mostly light cream with some brown spots, and has large grey-blue eyes. It has an extended fluffy snout and its black and white banded antennae are laid along the top of its wings.

    @markmccaughrean now I regret not taking a longer effort to get more detail off this one the other day, must be the same species. It liked our car so much, it was still attached to it after a few kms trip 😁

    @sharponlooker Looks like it might be the same, although there are quite a few grass veneer moth species, so without a bit more detail, it’s hard to be sure 🤷‍♂️🙂
