Man in my 50s here. Have started telling the important people in my life that I love them every time I see them. The embaressment, especially with the men, might shave a year or two off my life but I'm not stopping now. If I drop dead tomorrow they'll at least know how I felt.

@fesshole It says a lot more about the society you're in than it does about you that it's embarrassing to say "I love you". Been telling all my friends that since my teens. I'll never stop and I'll never apologize. You only have one eternal moment to not waste by being a coward.

@fesshole I don't feel remotely odd telling friends and family i love them. They're all cool with it too.
The strangers in the street sometimes seem uncomfortable, but that's on them.

@fesshole Maybe it's easier for us since I'm older than you (and I'm not a guy) but I sign off texts and emails with a sincere "I love you" in different ways but I'd think in this craven world, even men would feel good about it. You have the time now, use it wisely so you don't regret it.

That men cannot tell another men in our life that we love them must be the stupidest feature of the male gender construct.

@fesshole I do the same. I thought it was important people know. A lot of "are you okay?" from friends for a bit. But got a lot of love in return too :)
