This is not simply a story about unemployment. About 70% of 25- to 34-year-olds living at home have jobs, suggesting that even steady paychecks are struggling to keep up with the cost of independence. Expensive rents, elevated home prices, limited starter-home inventory, and debt as major barriers.

@VeroniqueB99 The real poverty lies in not having options, or hope. Generations under a roof can have positives, but even in cultures where it is traditional, it can feel different when constrained by necessity, rather than by custom, or by affinity.
That need to cohabit can have similarities to entrapment in an abusive relationship, yet harder to recognize as such, because the abusive partner is invisible: the economic and ultimately political system in which all are entrapped.
