  @PWei888 I think it has been heavily deconvolved & smoothed to reduce the residual noise – I think that’s described in the linked Nature paper, which I skimmed. Work done at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Studies in Göttingen alongside the US collaborators.

  @markmccaughrean What is missing is scale.

  I believe this measures 3500 km high and 5000 km wide. (2200 miles by 3100 miles.) The scale of Canada or the U.S.

  I don't know how much time elapses in the animation.

  @charette Correct on the scale (it’s in the Nature paper), although I didn’t have enough room in the toot for that.

  And likewise, I haven’t been able find the movie length / speed yet … I suspect it’s a considerably speeded up timelapse though.
