@HikerGeek ah ok! So you would be more likely to engage with a human in danger than an animal of whatever species sounds like, yes?

Actually I would engage with animals in danger caused by humans likely first. I do follow the general responders rule of don't make things worse and yourself a victim too so not unconditionally so.

Unfortunately some desperate humans can be one of the most dangerous things you can come across. Most humans in need of help benefit greatly and will likely give it back when they can.

Examples of animals in human trouble include sea turtles tangled in fishing nets or a racoon with a jar stuck on its head. I would help beached whales or dolphins even though that is likely natural but because the jury is still out on whether human underwater noise is making that worse I would if I could.

@HikerGeek I really appreciate you explaining the reasoning! I can totally see what you are saying.

I wonder how folks who are losing their home due to climate change (like flooded out) would be approached as it’s human caused to humans

Life has been on this planet for a little less than 4 billion years. It has been a powerfully self adjusting system for a very long time.

One thing nature has controls for is overpopulation. When a species overpopulates nature steps in. It may be direct like reducing the population by starvation or indirectly by plague. Some species do it themselves by turning on each other under population stress.

I fear humans are the latter. When I was born there were 3.5 billion humans in the world. Now there are over 8 billion. A conservative estimate for the carrying capacity of the Earth is 12 billion. 18 billion tops.

To get to your question given this tendency and many of our leaders fanning the flames of conflict I'm not counting on humans helping each other as much as they should going forward.
