    Very important! A group of people I know tested out the time for mail to be delivered in Washington state a couple of months ago, and while it's often quite fast there are times where even going between adjacent zip codes can take up to ten days.

    For the August 4 primary in Washington, at this point it's better to drop off your ballots at a drop box -- King County Elections has a map of all the dropboxes in Washington state. If you are going to mail your ballot though, please do it ASAP!

    @jdp23 @mattmay Benefit of a drop box is (at least in urban areas!) you can have a nice walk, bike or bus ride and smell flowers or pet a dog on the way to drop your ballot.

    @r343l @jdp23 While I do like a nice experience, if I have a ballot in my hand and it's election day, I have already failed, and what follows is an exhausting recovery operation to find and use the drop box. So, nice that it's there, but I think that's the reality for a lot of people my toot would resonate with.

    Yeah, there's a lot to be said for the convenience of vote by mail! Overall about half the voters in Washington state use drop boxes for primaries, and a somewhat higher percentage for the general election, but as far as I know there aren't any statistics on how many people prefer it as opposed to how many (like me) just procrastinate long enough that drop boxes are the only option.

    @mattmay @jdp23 Was trying to encourage folks to feel like it's still worth it to use a drop box if they find they procrastinated too late to use postal mail! "yes it's hard but maybe you'll get to pet a dog!"

    As a procrastinator, the dropbox I tend to use is at the Bellevue Public LIbrary, so I often combine dropping off my ballot with a library visit!
