I think we're going to have to get to the point where people have to realise that they can't have a new phone, or a new computer, or tablet, or TV, or games console or basically anything, because a bunch of companies are buying all the RAM on the planet to put into systems that are not actually doing anything "yet" (where yet means, potentially ever).
This probably wont completely replace the little vintage bakelite tanks I use, because they are great for doing 1 or 2 plates (the smallest takes just under 150ml of developer). But if there are too many the liquid doesn't get around properly.
The zebra tank will take 6 sixth plates, 6 4x5 sheets, or 3 4x5 plates. takes 450ml to fill, but I reckon I can do one plate at a time if I lay it sideways (with 200ml).
Yay! My Zebra Daylight tank has arrived. Just for demonstration I've got one of each of the holders in here, 4x5 flim, 4x5 plate, and the 6th plate (with two plates loaded). I have 3 of each of these.
The quality seems *really* good. The lid is much easier to deal with than the sp445, and feels much less likely to leak.
The whole thing is very solid. You get the funnel, a bag, and a tool for the screws (to replace the internal baffles if needed).
I spend loads of time getting a camera level, just to then spend more time making it unlevel in strange ways.
Another good reason to never get hooked on large format. Before I got into using movements I couldn't give two shits about converging verticals.

My new zebra 4x5 daylight tank should turn up tomorrow! I could have gone sp645, but zebra do inserts for plates, and for sixth plate. I'm looking forward to doing a whole grafmatic in one go (even though I suspect I have two blank sheets awaiting me)

Never a total waste of money though. They'll be fine for testing stuff, and maybe if I want a very retro/lofi look for a subject.
My longer term plan is to coat my own plates so even the glass here is useful.
I tested a couple of these to test today. They are a bit of a mixed bag. The base fog is actually relatively low, I think I can use them around ISO6 with a 7 minute dev. Unfortunately there are some emulsion defects. The emulsion is intact, not crumbling off or anything, but there are random blotchy circles. I developed one without exposure, and one with. Circles are on both.
It's not so bad as to be completely unusable, and it might vary between boxes and plates.
We finished #SpiderNoir at the weekend. Definitely the best super hero related thing I've seen in years.
Incidentally, cancelling series 2 of WonderMan is tragic, that was at least original and fun.
Loaded 4 of them into holders. Then it's the hard work of randomly deciding on ISO 3 and hc110B for 6 minutes. Highly scientific!
