In an article, I explained my disappointment at LLM-generated code, and speculated they might do better at review. Good to know they do not, so I don’t have to bother.

The cracks appear to be showing in multiple areas of the AI obelisk.
Most are things that I expected early on. All probably, I just don't want to say that without having gone to the bother of checking carefully, because what enables me to make such observations beforehand, is that I value integrity and therefore accuracy and careful consideration of what I believe.
I don't know, but I'll be surprised if this #LLM new world doesn't crumble and end up very different to what most seem to expect.
Apologies for being literate and applying critical-thinking skills. It will happen again.
The big Blair-era loophole behind Palantir’s tiny tax bill
Palantir’s UK CEO Louis Mosley says the company uses “a standard tax incentive” to minimise corporate tax. But the UK is one of the few countries that allows for this.https://www.opendemocracy.net/the-big-blair-era-loophole-behind-palantirs-tiny-tax-bill/
Today in Mr. Choppy news.
In what-is-now-traditional journalistic malpractice, none of the articles about this have a photo or video of the guillotine. But I found one. Salem Brought a Guillotine To Oppose New AI Data Center. Company Reps Left,...

I saw some guy complaining about why taxpayers should pay for free lunches for school kids.
You never see guys like that complaining about taxpayers paying $4 billion to cancel wind energy projects because our dumb ahh president thinks windmills cause cancer.
Capital One has never been what I'd call an admirable financial institution, but when it all but calls Trump a mega money launderer, you'd think that would be a bigger deal deserving more than a few no-big-deal-right stories (like this): https://abcnews.com/US/capital-closed-hundreds-trumps-bank-accounts-2021-anti/story?id=135273257
Look at this: the Austrian Military (Bundesheer) moved 16,000 PCs from Microsoft Office to #LibreOffice. But why and how did they do it? “Upper management has demonstrated that they're more interested in peddling corporate-speak and spending donor money on things that don't advance the mission. Management doesn't want to listen to its employees or the community. … I support the union because if we truly are "all in this together," then a union of employees should be the least of management's concerns.” – Wikimedia worker, name withheld
Cloudflare (>20% of all domains) has started automatically implementing DSM Dir art 4 rights reservation (ie copyright/TDM objection to scraping) for all sites that do not have a robots.txt file. They also adding purpose fields (new content-signal field with search, AI train, AI use) to robots.txt unilaterally and are enforcing it through monitoring and analysis. https://developers.cloudflare.com/bots/additional-configurations/managed-robots-txt/
A weird thing about living in #Massachusetts is constantly having other Americans tell you the life you live every day is impossible.
"You can't tax billionaires, they'll leave."
We have been, and they didn't.
"You can't legalize weed, it will increase crime."
We did, and it didn't.
"You can't make public transit free, it will cost too much."
We did, and it didn't.
And on and on, and the lesson to learn is don't listen to the billionaire media professional whiners and just do what's right for your community AND IT WORKS! But I still have to listen to this stupid shit every day.

It may be so, but only if his definition of AAA developer is using GenAI. It's actually an insult as well as a baseless assumption. Of course good developers evaluate methods and tools, but that's not the same as using them for development so it's not a sensible argument.
Whether he was ever a thinker I don't know, but his statements show a lack of thinking. Similar to an #LLM tbh.

"advertising SDKs don’t just allow developers to share location data–they often encourage it"
Excellent investigation by Lena Cohen and @legind into mobile app SDKs that share data on millions of app users with third parties, examining the SDK vendors InMobi, BidMachine, Verve, Huawei:

❝ MIT researchers last year hooked a group of students up to EEGs to study their brain activity while writing essays. Some of them were allowed to use the internet to conduct research, while others were told to use AI. Not only did the AI cohort have far less ability to recall what they wrote when asked about it later, but they also showed far less brain activity, suggesting that relying on #AI simply doesn’t lead to better learning. https://www.theregister.com/ai-and-ml/2026/08/04/openai-wants-teachers-and-profs-to-foist-their-work-off-on-chatgpt/5283064

Revolut recently banned using GrapheneOS without any justification. They're falsely claiming to do be doing it for security reasons. In reality, they're enforcing licensing Google Play. Revolut doesn't enforce security standards. It runs on Android 9 with no patches since 2018.
@GrapheneOS every so often I wonder about creating a #Revolut account and every time I find a new reason not to.
I don't and am unlikely to run #GrapheneOS, my issue is Revolut lying to its customers and choosing poorer security while saying you are security conscious.
It just means I can't trust Revolut as an app or a bank.
Tabloid #Newsnight continues to do a none story to death rather than looking at issues that affect everyone and are far more serious than offenders being released early due to past Tory cuts (which they don't mention) to the prison and justice system. Time for bed.
