Looking for one #videogame #recommendation to play during my vacation: when I bought Forza Horizon 6 I expected to be it but it bored me out quickly.

For reference in the last couple years I’ve loved Kena Bridge of Spirits, Red Dead Redemption 2, NiER Automata, The Last of Us 2 (which I didn’t finish, so maybe it’s what I should pick…); historically I’m a big fan of point and click adventures.

Any suggestions? Can do Mac, Crossover, Switch 1, and have #AppleArcade and can sub to #GamePass. Thx

App Store review delays are back to Shoemaker-era levels.

Most app reviews seem to be taking 6+ days now — a momentum-crushing delay for a process that has reliably taken 1–3 days for the last 10 years.

And this has NOT been a gradual increase since the rise of AI coding across the whole year — it came on suddenly, starting around a month ago.

Something over there is on fire, badly neglected, or deeply broken. (Probably all three.)

Something has to give. This is unsustainable.

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I'm conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent. Thank you for your cooperation during this trying time.

If Apple isn't using AI to expedite App Store & TestFlight review because AI makes mistakes, I have some bad news for them about their human reviewers.

Milla's tree is apparently soaked in Innisfree blood, kennel of Sierra Cinnar, the first and still only Siberian Husky ever to win Best in Show at Westminster, back in 1980.

Whether Cinnar himself is a direct ancestor is unclear, but after this amazing work (you should see the PDF with links) I’m going to give Fable a pass for not finding proofs.

And since I always knew my princess was a champion, we’re going to pretend he was.

Charlyn's Crime Scene Investigator, call name "Grissom" (yes, after the CSI guy: his whole litter had crime themed names, and that continued with Milla's dad Capone).

Turns out her granddaddy is a US Grand Champion with multiple Best in Specialty Show wins, who then went and led a sled team to the finish of the 2008 Iditarod. Over 1,000 miles across Alaska. You know, like the queen of beds here...

I gave it Milla's official pedigree, set Fable to max and let it go full genealogist. Thirty ancestors, four countries, one Westminster legend. But the real star (apart of Milla, ça va sans dire) of the #Husky tree is her grandfather.

I made a website that allows you to paste in a sharing link from any streaming service and get back a universal link that works with all of them.

It's for those moments where you need to share something and you don't know which steaming service your friend uses. Or maybe for a group chat where people use different services.

It works with video games too!

I have been reflecting more on how I feel on CUI. (coding under influence, from #LLMs obviously).

Unlike many here I may never have had true nerdy a passion for the intricacies of one language or another etc. I learn what I need to learn to make stuff.

I just like learning stuff in general and most of all I like the fact that I can create my own things. My inner urge to create was frustrated as three decades ago I couldn't code at all. My friends could write 68000 ASM and I couldn't. So if I had some idea I would have to ask them and of course they had their own better ideas to realize. So I got a book about C and started reading while working at a printshop.

So decades passed and I learned to code and even somehow earn a living out of result but never became so good at it compared to the people who made it their specialized craft. At some point I made uninteresting apps that were downloaded by over 100 million people but overall if you ask me about code... I am still an amateur.

And now I am here, talking to a chinese (not real) friend who codes for me in exchange for some tokens aka money.So it's probably easier for me than for others to accept the fucking machine does a lot of things better than a I would (and some terribly worse but probably because I asked it wrong).

In the end it's kind of acceptable for me, even if I don't like the idea of losing control that inevitably comes with the tech.  Ironically I use the thing to create my own little world operatings system to get the illusion of control.

We did a really great job with the climate. A collective masterpiece, mankind, we rule.
