took advantage of a great summer day yesterday and rode the Root River and Preston-Harmony trails for a 60 mile loop between Fountain to the IA border. The rains have not been kind to the trails in general and the Preston-Harmony portion needs a lot of repair but it was still fun. Had most of trail to myself. Graveled the detour to get to Harmony for lunch at Estells's then did the new 6 mile portion south from Harmony to the IA border for the return trip #BikeTooter #MNastodon #RootRiverTrail

Training ride today on one of our last nice days before the #heatwave sets in. Gray skies gave way to sunshine. I found that the new section of the Mill Towns State Trail in Northfield is well under way. They've even built a path under the existing bride at Canada Ave. to connect to the old one. I am a non-traditional student in science. No one in my family is a scientist, nor went to grad school for science. I'm doing it as an disabled older person who got her Bachelors in Art. So...there's still a lot of hidden curriculum for me.
The pandemic hit soon after I started grad school and much as I love my PI, I missed out on some of the structured mentoring I think I could benefit from. I applied for NSF GRFP and was turned down.

It's @phanpy , it's amazing, I run it in the browser on desktop (as I am now) and as a pinned Firefox page on my CalyxOS Fairphone 5. No offline access, but if I've got no data/wifi I should do something else. The BEST feature is catch up, where it brings together all the posts for the last n hours in ascending order so you can read top to bottom, and you can filter by poster, post type etc. 100% would recommend. #positivevibes #onegoodthingtoday
