So, years ago, when my dad died, one of the things I immediately wanted for comfort was this soup he always made.
A soup that there was no recipe for.
For over twenty years, I've been miserable every time I think about this simple soup.
Today, I got close enough that the first bite made me cry because it was so familiar.
I remain amazed. (Also, it's now the only recipe I have in version control. lol.)
So, yeah, tell people you love them. Also, write down your recipes. That's love, too. ❤️
Anyway, whatever you may think of Graham, perhaps his death is a useful opportunity to reinforce what to do in similar emergencies.
What do Alexander the Great, Winnie the Pooh, and Chance the Rapper have in common?
Same middle name.
In astrophysics, an event horizon is a boundary in spacetime beyond which no signal can ever reach a given observer. Wolfgang Rindler coined the term in the 1950s.[1]

this would make a good tattoo with fancy pinstripe style lettering and an old-timey american traditional anchor design worked there somehow.
I made a new curated collection today. My 5 year old collection shrank a lot because of lack of money for inventory, so it’s authority wasted away. I had a different collection but it was poorly targeted. My solution was to create an “Adult & Teen Fidget Toys” collection. It is combinations of various small collections to create a 53 product collection. I linked it on the homepage and in every product description of fidgets in that collection. It’s also now the first collection listed under the curated collections tab. Hopefully once that starts circulating I will start making money again.
I did a lot of other things that are hard to explain.
The rats might not precisely be leaving the sinking ship, but they _are_ looking into alternative options.

Like tech still has an attitude of "they can code, who cares if they've done horrible things" and although it's improved (to even have these discussions publicly 10 years ago would result in being flamed)... it's not great.
ps: it wasn’t a heart attack. my gall bladder exploded.

just noting that this poll started after the super creepy "photo" was circulated

Gartner estimates 20% of companies will cut half their middle managers this year.
A retail friend described the Great Flattening at their company.
• Promotion ladders now unclear
• Coaching and career development declining
• Remaining managers overloaded
• Execs now handling operational tasks
• Harder to get upward feedback to execs from frontline workers
This is happening across tech, finance, retail and various professional services. It’s bold to bet on AI making all of the above irrelevant.

Just checked the news. That photo of McConnell is super creepy.

when i had to call 911 thinking i was having a heart attack, this is exactly what they told me. there i was on the floor when they got to me: FDNY with axes in hand and EMS with a defibrillator. all i could say ―like the total dork i am―, you’re too tall to be Gimli. was thrilled to be pushed on a stretcher to the ambulance with Tall Gimli, axe in hand, by me 😁
