Interesting article about archeological finds of 2500 year old tattoos. But I found three things very curious, not about the find, but about the article:

* Why is it surprising that people were sophisticated 2500 years ago?
* A “half lion and half eagle” is called a griffin, and has been known for at least 5000 years.
* Why would people on the steppe do their tattoos outside in the wind? Surely some kind of shelter was available 2500 years ago?
