The youtuber Andrewism said in one of their videos four years ago:
"[...] when colonisers made landfall during the primary age of colonial conquest, they saw wilderness to be exploited rather than managed systems to care for and leave behind as a legacy for future generations"
This is also the case in Saepmie, the land of the Sami people, colonised by Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. The land is still viewed this way, as a wilderness to be exploited.
