    The problem is not that we can't do anything, because obviously there are lots of things we _could_ do. But that its impossible to do any of them in the current political/economic system.

    We're facing the biggest crisis in our species' existence, while encumbered with the dumbest political elite in a very long time.

    And here in Aotearoa New Zealand, the polls and the media are pushing us to elect the very worst people for the planet, with Winnie The Who as kingmaker, who last night dismissed the forthcoming catastrophe as "happening for millions of years."

    At the same time it's not helpful for Rawiri Waitai to suggest that mātauranga Māori will save us, and set it up in opposition, rather than complementary, to mainstream science, which he blames for global warming.

    No, it is the unbridled capitalist use of the technology made possible by science that has brought us to this pass.
