:charlene_cat_head: Charlene Update:

The vet called. Charlene is a very sick kitty, extremely dehydrated with an elevated white blood cell count—over 60,000. Her GI infection is serious.

Dr. Rodriguez wants to begin her on IV fluids and antibiotics and keep Charlene for the day, maybe overnight. She doesn't recommend *not having the treatment as Charlene "may not recover."

The vet bill will increase to $1200-$1300, an additional $300-$400 more than yesterday's estimate and y'all have contributed.

I'm going to say a prayer, cross my fingers and give the Dr. the go ahead to proceed. I don't want to lose Charlene.

husband had the door open when the oxygen man turned up this morning, and oxygen man asked if he could come in.

my mouth said "yes, of course" as my brain was screaming, "he's a vampire!!"

what is with this day??

it is still 28.4° downstairs, over 30° upstairs, and we've maybe only got another few days to get the temps down before the Heat comes back. and it's still 31° outside today, even with it being "cooler" atm.

our grocery order arrived with everything *covered* in oil from a leaky jar. we tried to clean it but we can't; it's all ruined. i've sent pics, praying they refund/resend.

new oxygen machine arrived this morning: we now think they clean them with scented chemicals. husband's going to try running it outside later to check, but even off, it stinks of synthetic "flowers".

my ac joint came out again earlier and it really hurts plus i'm just a mess in general.

i got cat food on my clothes not once but twice.

aaaand i realised i made a mistake on our tax return that i will have to correct and pray it doesn't cause any problems when they open the corrections period in august.

pretty much just crying constantly at this point.

(lmao full moon, also just looked up mercury for a laugh ...)

we had STORMS! so many storms and thunder so loud (the loudest i've ever heard) that i made a Noise of Great Alarm when one of them happened right over us.

we also had rain, blessed rain, a fair tonne of it, so hopefully that will mitigate at least some of the damage done and still to come.

it's a bit cooler (and muggier) outside, but the house is still decidedly toasty: our walls would appear to be storage heaters. hopefully the next few nights will empty them?

much better lightening pic to come in a minute, but i do like that the moon's in this one!
