But this morning there were 3 yellow jacket hornets in the mix, too! They were buzzing at each other, trying to defend "their" sugar water! And also diving at the ants! And the hummingbirds!! The hummingbirds also, in turn, chasing the hornets, in between chasing each other. The ants did their best to rush in and out and get out of the war zone. Somehow, a lot of sugar water ended up getting consumed anyway.
Later in the day, the hornets had left. The hummingbirds and ants seemed relieved.
