    GenAI is eating everything, across every industry. It's wealth transfer to a small number of techbros.

    @GossiTheDog it feels like it's basically a wealth transfer to Nvidia, Micron, Samsung and a few other chip makers. Everyone else is losing money. It's wild.

    @GossiTheDog In conversations too. It is almost impossible to message or post without it being cast in any amount of doubt or malice that it could in fact be generated.

    It leads to very toxic conversations and difficulty getting content across.

    @GossiTheDog I was genuinely in the market for a pricey Mac Studio this year, but have dropped this idea because the insane price hikes have taken it from "pretty expensive, but it's a premium product so I guess it's expected" to "that's offensively expensive, no way"

    Once the AI data centers are built, things get better, right? Right?

    @gilester45 @GossiTheDog

    it will NOT get better because all of the cash blown and debt incurred with the hyperscalar buildout, which is already being abandoned because the demand isn't there and they loose MUCH more money than they make running the clankers.

    the dram makers got OUT of the consumer DRAM buisiness so what they actually are building will be useless

    unfortunately, if we can't get "Mr Super Intelligence" out of the White House, the taxpayer is going to bail out the trillions of dollars of debt defaults.

    @bitsavers @GossiTheDog I fear you may be correct, I was being willfully naive - I don't expect prices ever to fall, dramatically, anyway.

    And, due to the collapse in PC demands due to the prices, there will be less incentive for the DRAM makers to get back INTO the consumer space, compounding the problem.
