Here's a couple more off grid drawings. I changed the pattern to look a bit more isometric. I've also done two, one for portrait mode and the other for landscape.

Had a lovely HTML Day 2026 in NYC this evening. People sat in a park learning or writing HTML. I learned about the math, picture, and wbr tags. It was fun. Everyone was thoughtful, I felt like everyone I talked to had a different angle and something else worth learning.

I don’t usually post political news but this was a reminder to me of everything we knew in 2015 about Russia’s involvement in this trash decade—Epstein, the orange guy, the siphoning off of American sovereignty and wealth—and we need all the fuel for the fire this fall to burn these cooperators out of government. Thank you Senator Wyden for doing your job. https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/august-4-2026?r=12sayj&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email

@patsplat should we have a themed little library? What kind of little library would you like to build?

Investors decided no, they did not want to build the future, instead they wanted to lock in the present by stealing the worlds knowledge and selling it back via metered tokens. All they had to do was to give the workers building the future a seat at the table. Instead, they decided to "disrupt" the whole ecosystem of building software products.

All that was required with this approach was to envision a new type of computing, one built on narratives, without screens, but still designed by writers and poets and built by engineers.

This morning i woke up and asked Alexa what time it was. As it responded with exactly what I wanted, I realized exactly what is frustrating about OpenAI and Anthropic and all their investors. We could be building the future, right now. Siri, Alexa, Google Actions, all demonstrated a very achievable model of computing. One where language models were used to identify the intent of the user, and would then fulfill that intent.

Oh no! My family was obsessing over Costco on our recent California vacation (they litterly spent two vacation afternoons at Costco) and i couldn’t understand it. I now never ever want to step foot in Costco!

Great read but the second comment is the kicker: a cvs in a black and Latino neighborhood locked up everything, people stopped shopping there and it closed while a cvs in a rich touristy neighborhood locks up almost nothing and remains open. I think the reframe is “Locking up toothpaste was another warning sign that our executive class is racist”

“Originally a horticultural practice, nemawashi has become a widely used expression in Japanese business and politics, where it refers to quietly laying the groundwork before introducing major changes. The metaphor comes directly from tree transplantation: careful preparation before taking decisive action leads to better outcomes.”

@crazyjaneway here you go

This will probably end up as a piece titled Off Grid

The ideas of the French enlightenment of were imported indigenous ideas from Turtle Island. The more we can embody the true founding ideas of true personal freedom, universal mutual care, and collective decision making based on dialog and debate, the closer we may get to the noble ideas in our founding documents. It’s worth working for together. Today I will be purifying my heart; midterms are coming and I will not sit this out.

This is one of my grand fathers ties. I will likely use this as a texture in the final piece. He gave me all his suits and ties as he neared the end of his life. I've let go of the suits but kept the ties.
