While I’m in a ranting mood about it…
There is something so incredibly white about AI bros. Like, dude finds an app that can bullshit just as well as him, can spit out shitty code and pictures or whatever better than him and his conclusion is “I’ve found God.”
The thought “I’m worse at this than a phone app, maybe I should study/practice and get better” never occurs to him. Why should it? He’s a white dude who’s on top of the world. So if this app is able to do everything he can do, it must be the most amazing thing ever created and it can do everything.
Like, dude finds himself face to face with his own limitations and decides to worship a chatbot rather than just admit he’s mediocre.

@faithisleaping I read an article once that said the appeal of AI is that it allows us to not face our limitations. Instead of facing the face that your bad at something, just let AI do it

@faithisleaping And it rarely stops at personal use and standing behind the (mid, at best) results. It's always followed by forcing slop on others and demanding they welcome it, forced adoption by others, demands that nobody disapprove of their newfound psychological dependence, insistence that all critique is fake and calls for government to suppress "well-respected people" from criticism, etc. When the oligarchs and colonizers obtain a new weapon, wield it they shall.

@faithisleaping the problem is people are at war with each others, they see competitions, the competitions for attention is using it so why shouldn't they use it?
So now the new thing is code, and building software quick, and creating communities around that shit software, and spamming the social media for attention? AI is a good weapon for them.
The only way out is to stop caring about them and their social media, starve their desire for attention.
