    Hearing about very young furries trying to start shit on Twitter/X and TikTok against kinks like ageplay/ABDL is exhausting. To quote Master Shake: "I am thirty or forty years old, and I do not need this."

    But I can't help but talk about it for a moment anyway because I just want to get out here and make people aware of why this is a bigger deal than it appears right now at this exact period in time thanks to the shitstorm of a political landscape.

    I have been into various kink-related things for longer than most of these kids have been alive. This is not an exaggeration. Kink is actually how I found my place in the furry fandom because some of the friendliest and most caring people I knew on kink-related forums and IRC networks were (SURPRISE!) furries. They were sweet, kind, caring, very fucking weird, but just great people who were never judgmental.

    Had I not met them through these forums, I'd have still probably discovered furry, but it probably wouldn't have been as "cohesive"/important for me.

    Attacks against kinks in adult spaces within the furry fandom isn't new. The discourse wheel spins and always lands on a perfectly innocent kink on an almost regular interval. FTR: most kinks are perfectly innocent. They're "carried out" either solo or with other consenting adults in private spaces.

    That alone should put a stop to the discourse, but it never does because crusaders can't fucking help themselves but inject themselves into everyone else's business and try to farm clout over it. It's tiring and I largely ignore it because fuck what some twerp thinks, but it is important to speak out at least a little bit.

    Kink culture and furry culture are both undeniably queer. Even if you're a straight furry into something kinky, they're still queer cultures. I'm not sure if anyone's noticed, but the regime in office right now in the US fucking hates anyone who isn't a cishet, white, christian, right-wing male with money.

    If you want to know just how far they'd go to erase queer culture, look no further than the seemingly benign "litterboxes in classrooms" talking point, which is anti-trans, anti-queer, and of course specifically targeting the furry fandom which is... hey... guess what? Queer.

    The hate against ABDL/Ageplay is largely ignorance and often times willful ignorance. Someone sees something they don't like/understand and instead of shrugging and moving on, they feel the need to interject and make it about themselves. Apparently the thought is "if we just get these weirdos out of the fandom, then the rest of the fandom should be fine," but that's just normie-washing and it has never, ever fucking worked in the history of ever.

    Trying to exclude objectively queer people from a queer space only makes the overall culture weaker and defenseless against oppressive regimes who would rather we didn't exist because we threaten their very normalcy and toxic masculinity. You end up setting up the dominoes that lead to your own eventual demise.

    Never mind the fact that there are a ridiculous amount of babyfur/babyfur-adjacent staffers in very high/notable positions in conventions and furry organizations around the globe who work very hard to protect furry culture in general, but you'd never know because that's kind of the point.

    If you don't understand a kink, do some research and ask questions. If you still don't like it, that's fine. You don't have to like everything, but you can't be out here leading crusades against people who have done literally nothing wrong and are just trying to have a good time. You also can't be out here making false blanket accusations against an entire group and expect it to go over well.

    By trying to lead these anti-kink crusades, you're making it worse for everyone (including yourself) because regimes don't care if you think you're "one of the good ones." The target on your back isn't any less noticeable to them and it's no secret to anyone who's been around the block a few times that this is always how it goes.

    Protect queer spaces and culture. That includes furry, kink, and how they intersect.

    @heathen_cat @shammers he’s extremely “normal”, his politics are centrist with huge racist effects even if he doesn’t hold racial animus, he has some degree of recognition and power—and they still made up some shit to try to get his kids taken away because it’s never going to be enough.

    Learning that the kink is rather broad, deals in varying boundaries, and has very little to do with pedophilia at all, was a surprise when I first found it. It's... themeing, mostly, and some ideas that make me uncomfortable are either a personal boundary, or an idea of someone who is already shunned. It's a lot more convoluted, the idea is frightening more than what actually happens.

    The overlap between furry and abdl is so obvious though! Wearing a diaper under a fursuit is just very practical.

    But in all seriousness, I entirely agree with this thread and wish people would just try to learn a tiny bit about something before forming opinions..
