    fedi i am desperate and need help. please reblog.

     i have a thinkpad t480 and recently installed the internal battery, hoping to leverage the extended battery life. you may already know my problem here if you are familiar. despite having reset my battery firmware or whatever (i put the paperclip in and held it), it will still sometimes just choose the internal battery while it is at 5% and turn off as soon as the battery hits 0%. this is just not how i would expect this to ever work. how can i stop my laptop randomly turning off when i have a bunch of battery still available on my external?

    this is so frustrating and i can't find anything while searching because search engines are now completely useless.

    @lynn is this related?

    I observed this issue with mine:
    If I have plug it in a charger serving another device, one battery would discharge and once that one battery discharges (the other stays full) the power turns off.

    It never happens when I use a charger without anything else plugged to it.

    @gabrielesvelto ty. ive been too lazy to look at tlp, because it is a bit of extra setup on my particular OS. i looked into it and i can easily set these settings you mentioned though. hopefully that helps :)

    @lynn yeah, it's just a convenient layer over existing knobs, I hope you found the right ones to fix your problem
