i can not comprehend writing a compiler in c. it is just such a bad language for this sort of manipulation. it is so obvious looking at my c compiler code vs. a language with real matching.

 i have a thinkpad t480 and recently installed the internal battery, hoping to leverage the extended battery life. you may already know my problem here if you are familiar. despite having reset my battery firmware or whatever (i put the paperclip in and held it), it will still sometimes just choose the internal battery while it is at 5% and turn off as soon as the battery hits 0%. this is just not how i would expect this to ever work. how can i stop my laptop randomly turning off when i have a bunch of battery still available on my external?

still think about the one time i decided to bring an ex girlfriend to the movies we saw suicide squad and i was like, unable to speak for the rest of the evening because it was so bad it kind of broke my brain.

every once in awhile i reactivate my bsky account, scroll for a second, remember what algorithmic social media does to my brain chemistry, and deactivate.

let's say that i don't want to learn haskell because ghc is sloppying it up AI style but still want pedantic, mathematics focused functional programming. what options are there? i've heard of idris2 only.

it is shocking how a compiler really is just converting a tree into a different tree a few times and then pretty printing it.

i have not written a single if statement in my compiler project so far. i literally do not know how to write an if statement in ocaml yet.

ive settled on plantuml for my personal diagramming choice.

i need to keep a new record of things that piss me off for having a million dependencies when it is supposed to be a drop-in tool.

unfortunately packaging mermaid on guix seems to be also a nightmare, because the package-lock file is 10.000 lines long.

very much interested in playing around with org-mode and mermaid diagrams. a part of my day job is writing documentation and explanations for concepts and feature work, and mermaid has been very nice for explaining these concepts to people who aren't as enfranchised.

to say nothing of the implementation, only of the effect on programmers, i think it encourages too much a chain of dependency that isn't well thought out and results in simple programs having a hundred to hundreds of dependencies.
