Damn heat... Going to have to budget for a screened sleeping porch addition. No real good place to put it (what with my big planters on the back porch) but I'll figure it out
Since, you know, the power grid seems especially unreliable lately

It is incredibly annoying that everyone assumes I must have power now even though I have stated that the pole pig blew up and how that took days to get fixed last time
Like this was not a 5 minute event
I stated that infrastructure went kablooey
This is not me exaggerating
I have too much dentist stuff coming up to deal with poor sleep so we have a hotel for a few days. Hopefully the power will be back on when they say it will. Or if not, hopefully I can extend this stay without trouble.
Left the sourdough colony at home in the non-working freezer with a few ice packs, and will check on it later. It'll be ok if it freezes, but I don't think it will. My yogurt starters were thawed but ok, so I took them to the hotel. If I have power Wednesday I'll be fermenting!
The power is back on! Jay drove by this morning.
I slept great at the hotel but I'd also been on my feet working in the heat all day... Today is just as busy but all indoors, so having the usual bed to get back to is probably going to be better tonight.
I need to scrub the fridge out and then it will be time to see what's left at the grocery stores.
The internet is back! I am so happy that I can browse idly online while laying around tomorrow after the dentist
And tomorrow the tree ladies will be out to get a look at our raggedy (but mostly intact) oaks after the storm. We are nearly done with this Independence Day nonsense!
@effika i'm glad y'all can decamp to a hotel but i'm sorry, this seems extremely stressful plus people being annoying about it to you!
@aetataureate I appreciate it!
I am very lucky to do this and that there was a room free at a good hotel. I have lost all my no-AC childhood cred though
The last time we lost power this long was an ice storm & I slept the best I ever had, literally just one Walmart $3 fleece blanket on and a beanie for my ears, so happy. Husband was under the duvet and all the other blankets we had. But I sleep so hot and it was divine. I didn't want a hotel even if we could have booked one (we couldn't).
