It’s T-3ish to the Mexico-England game and I am in the best possible place to witness this moment: Mexico City, my beloved hometown, and also the BEST city in the world. A historic #worldcup game on a Sunday afternoon? Ambiance is completely nuts. Here begins my report!
First of all, I need that bootleg black jersey with Quiñones on the back stat because I may be the only person in this city without one right now. Delivery drivers, street taco chefs and vendors, pedestrians, families, dogs, everyone is wearing a 🇲🇽 jersey today. Except for one loser wearing a Cruz Azul shirt, but he’ll probably get bullied at a watch party. #worldcup #mexico
Public transit to the Aztec stadium and to the different watch party sites has shut down. I saw rivers of families walk from the final stop to where the main watch party will be, and it will probably take them 45 minutes to get there. If there is a will, there is a way, and I don’t know any country with any more will than #Mexico #worldcup
What a game! More than defeated, I think I and the dozens of people I saw walk home from their respective watch parties were *emotionally depleted*. Mexicans don't give up hope until the end, but I'll say WHY DID THEY TAKE NATIONAL HERO QUIÑONES OFF THE FIELD, why #worldcup

@marielgm he had a hell of a world cup. Not sure why they would take him off while chasing the game. Mexico have been a joy to watch this world cup
@jackson_sweater 💗 I think it is a historically major thing for Mexico that one of its top players in this historic World Cup is 1) Afromexican 2) a naturalized citizen born in Colombia.
