    ironically Andy's social policy for young adults would help tackling issues they believe social media bans would "magically" resolve. that tells a lot about tech policy awareness among 95% of politicians & their advisors - even your favourite ones.

    (I have my suspicions as to who is lobbying Burnham on this but that's for another time)

    @DM_Ronin “How does he think it will get enforced?” He probably thinks the tech guys will figure it out, or scattershot application of harsh punishments will do the trick.

    @MisuseCase actually if we are to get into details, it's even more ridiculous.

    technically it can be done w/o ID by requesting debit card details (similar to how Steam does it now) but the fact itself that you need bank card to use social media will be hilarious. especially since, unlike Steam, you... won't be able to buy anything on social media.

    unless it's Xitter or Instagram so you can buy subscription. but then again, it's as if only two platforms exist in the entire internet for them lol

    @DM_Ronin

    It won't really be enforced.

    We'll have a generation or two of competent teens who find all sorts of creative ways to evade or circumvent any technical or other measures.

    GCHQ will be delighted with their fresh intake 😉

    @DM_Ronin it's okay he'll be gone in 6-12 months. the crisis god hungers for new prime ministerial offerings.

    @ret if he fails to deliver what he promised (and his policy program btw is 95% what I agree with, especially as someone living in Greater Manchester area), or fails to show his intentions in making change - he will be gone, and deservingly so.

    but for his own sake, and for the sake of UK, I hope he won't fail or be sabotaged. while I do support him, I'll also be unreservingly critical on things that are wrong.

    @DM_Ronin wonder if he’s completed his mandatory Online Safety Act Reddit(TM) Persona(TM) facial/and/or/ID card scan to post that?

    @ret and plenty of other good questions too, e.g on student loans and land value tax. alas, that's typical AMA in reddit, especially when it generates that much attention.
