The "genius inventor" ideology also ignores the way technology actually develops. The plow isn't a singular device that was invented at a specific time and place. It's a family of related devices that developed over thousands of years in response to the local farming conditions and available technological base. Even if you assign each development to a single inventor, that inventor is still building on the work of their predecessors, not creating something totally from scratch.
