I don’t want to brag but there’s a lovely breeze going through my office, which is now 26.4 degrees Celcius instead of the 29.2 degrees from earlier this week.
We ended this heatwave with a storm of rain, thunder, and hail that lasted six hours on Saturday night (and burned down at least three houses in the area), and still some heat yesterday, but (for) now it’s over.
Little jelly over here, ngl. (I like storms)
@dogfox I both like and fear storms. They’re pretty amazing when you and your loved ones are safe inside, but otherwise it’s not.
Lately we’ve had multiple burned-down buildings, one woman dead after being crushed in her car by a falling tree branch, and lots of other damages.
Oh shit. That last part is no fun at all...
And I just learned that our heatwave is inbound. It's coming in in the next few days.

@urlyman Yep. As far as I know it’s one monumental farm, another farm, and one older house. Tragic 😔
One farm had horses in the barn but AFAIK those were all saved.

@mahryekuh the summer of 2026 is by far the most uncomfortable summer of my life.
It's simply not survivable without AC.
There must be some respite in other regions where the night temps fall significantly.
the last 3 months, it's been 30 even during the nights.
