I have a question that I should probably ask the pharmacist, but Walgreens has been taken over by Christian Nationals so nah.

If I change my weekly estradiol patch on Saturday & the it falls off on Tuesday, why TF would I change one week patch I replace it with on a Saturday when it should last until Tuesday? It doesn’t know my usual replacement day is Saturday.

Is this just because “haha small brain woman won’t know how to keep track” (despite the fact that most women manage a calendar for multiple family members)? Or am I being dumb & there’s a good reason for this??

    #estradiol #perimenopause #menopause

Instructions for the estrogen patch (page 1):

If the patch falls off before you have worn it for the full seven days, apply a new patch until the initial seven-day cycle is over.* Then, remove the replacement patch —even if you've worn it for only one or two days. Select a different area on the skin
(Page 2 of the Mylan patch directions)

and apply a new patch to begin the next seven-day dosing interval.* This will ensure that your cycle of treatment remains on schedule . . .

*Or as otherwise directed by your physician or healthcare professional.

@maggiejk Your first guess is probably what the company was thinking.
Even with menopausal brain fog, my wife can manage months of calendar events far better than I can!

    @maggiejk

this sounds like litigation ass covering.

if the patch falls off there is no accounting for how long the patch was off your skin not delivering medication. this leaves a period of time where your dosage levels are lower than prescribed. the stated protocol of applying a new patch removes legal responsibility for any effect from the lowered dosage.

also, patches will lose effectiveness if the skin side of the patch is exposed to sun/debris/water for a long period of time.

@coolcalmcollected oh this makes sense actually! I would be in a deficit because it was missing for a bit & if I wear it the whole 7 days there probably isn’t enough in the patch to catch me up AND last all week consistently so I won’t even out well.

@maggiejk Uh—anything recent re:Walgreen ownership? I already had a few reasons to avoid, but Christian Nationals controlling corporations is not my thing.

@cobalt123 it’s technically owned by Sycamore Private equity which blows. But I’m not sure who put white Jesus in the window, but I suspect it’s one of the pharmacists who isn’t there when the nice pharmacist is there

The one that I talk to had called me about it but I ended up going back through the drive-through before I talked to him, and Jesus was out out of the window but so were all the little ducks, which made me sad. They were for pride I think & they were not the problem. He wasn’t working that day, so I still have to call him back just in case he’s not working next time I go.

I am very uncomfortable with Christian nationalists running the Pharmacy. Especially because the man who covers for the nice pharmacist specifically doesn’t like filling my medication, at least twice he has told me something wasn’t covered by my insurance and it was. It wasted lots of my time and delayed my healthcare.

I bet he’s the Christian nationalist. Unless it’s one of the techs I don’t know.
