The IS a hard sell when you look at _just_ the performance. Do I wish it were cheaper? Absolutely. But also the AI price squeeze is freakin' real.

For me the sell for the Steam Machine (when I have the money) is:
    - A 6" cube that can play most games at decent enough settings
    - a low TDP which means that my room wont become *more* of a furnace when gaming
    - HDMI CEC support
    - Wake from controller support

But paying nearly 1k is gonna sting ngl

But if I look at other solutions in that form factor _and_ TDP? It stings a lot less. But as ever with PC gaming, you save on games. Games are dirt cheap, AND theyre compatible on basically any machine you can shoe horn steam onto.

That being said, I think ARM will eventually change the value proposition of the Steam Machine

For me, most my gaming happens on my Steam Deck because it doesnt turn my room into a furnace. The same will be the case for the Steam Machine. Form factor and heat is king!

And thinking on it, I think the Steam Machine is better value than any other product in its price bracket.

The same can't now be said for the Steam Deck. There are better (or at the very least, more compelling) deals elsewhere for handheld gaming PCs.
