    @Daojoan it’s saying the page linked is private (I don’t read blogs on substack now I’ve realised that’s where it’s hosted, but thought you’d want to know)

    @Daojoan Sure, that's right, there's some considerable truth in it, but my attitudes might make it hard for me to swallow. Attitudes like
    a. That's because we did not evolve in an environment that made sure everyone got the key to their own cell.
    b. Nor did we evolve in an an environment that blessed us with so many ways to sign ourselves into captivity.
    c. Power corrupts. If we make choices that give others inordinate power over us, we may be harming them by corrupting them.
    d. The truth will set your free, but it's likely to make you miserable first, and there may be a parole officer involved.
    e. There's a sucker born every minute.

    Where do I stand? I have supported legislation, now law in several states, to prohibit marriage (any flavor) before age 18.

    @Daojoan
    Very interesting article, thanks! As I look back on a long privileged life, I never felt trapped in a decision, while remaining dedicated to it ... until it was time to bail. I don't recall ever feeling do or die.

    Given how this one life went, I wouldn't change much, and there were certainly times when a new option kind of popped up just when needed. And times where not switching tracks would have been a bad mistake, seen from here.

    Very thought-provoking, thanks!

    @Daojoan I was hoping to read this, but I’ve never been forced to sign into Substack before, and since I don’t support their policies, I’d rather not. But I like reading your stuff!
