And this ubiquitous basic understanding of technological interoperability interfaces is shared with only one other franchise I'm aware of... Star wars!
In that universe, everyone from the wealthiest of aristocrats to the poorest of farmers understands what an "energy converter" is, and which of many identical-looking cables to plug in to which jack in order to receive a broadcast from the other side of the galaxy. 💕
