    @ZeroTrustWraith yes, it’s an oss android implementation but it’s going thru some maintenance churn or something so not bleeding edge with the base Android I guess? The landing page says releases are paused calyxos.org/

    But from what I’ve gathered via matrix and discord is that it has something to do with the team’s hardware situation? Maybe a quick versus rundown while you’re pre install for zero impact plus time spent deciding?

    I took the plunge last year with zero Android experience but I remember that causing me to curse at devices and start from scratch a few times. Even as a n00b it didn’t feel painful. I chose CalyxOS over graphene and one other whose name I don’t recall. I went from my very first Android phone to writing my own dotnet oss blog posting app in the year I’ve had it.

    @blue_fenix That's very useful info!

    And, cursing your devices isn't an entirely unique experience. Even as a fairly seasoned cybersecurity major, I find myself cursing devices and platforms here and there lol. My favorite is "who the hell decided this was a good idea?!?"

    @ZeroTrustWraith tbf, I’m a senior software dev. I live there, no need for couch surfing. So I do have an edge on the writing my first app step, but the os install experience was the highlight. Should be fun for opsec honestly.

    @blue_fenix Nice! I'm definitely excited to experience this transition, myself! I also just ordered a protectli Vault with an NVMe SSD and OPNSense pre-installed. Slowly but surely I will kick big tech out of my life and lock down my own opsec as well.
