I don't know if this is true or not, but apparently Sam Altman told a room full of venture capitalists that his business model for OpenAI was to create a sentient AI and then ask it how to make the company profitable. I heard this on 4Chan, so it's entirely possible that it's made up, but if it's not, then that's really something.
