They should have kept the OG Gorn appearance on Strange New Worlds honestly

STUDY: "COVID-19 vaccination has proven effective beyond the acute phase of the disease, with protection extending to a reduced risk of post-COVID cardiovascular conditions."

Get your #COVID19 vaccination if you can.

My best friend's contractor didn't show for work yesterday.

Last night, his brother showed up and knocked on his door.

"My brother was picked up by ICE at his immigration hearing. When he called me, he told me to come to your house and finish the job." They gave him money and told him to go home.

My friend found a lawyer for the contractor last night, but as he said, "I'm not sure if I'm more shaken as an American or as a Jew."

We have to end this nightmare.

The astronomy club I'm a part of has a Discord for all of us to use. Last night one of the members was posting about some new AI image generation thing and posted a few images, one of which was generated #astrophotography.

Me and my friends in the club are rage chatting about it. It's fucking insulting to post that shit in a club half composed of astrophotographers. It's as if the thing we dedicate countless hours to doesn't matter.

Vienna in the news, because… what now

So here in southern Arizona we’re in a transitional weather period (temps today range from 46°F–86°F, that’s 281K–303K for you metric fans), so need both heating and cooling today.

It’s really nice that you can use the same equipment for this.

It’s nice to have a heat pump!

Heating and cooling with the same equipment at a quarter of the energy expenditure; mostly coming from solar cells on our roof. 🤌

Fwiw on iOS a great ad blocker is Wipr 2, which comes with an optional component called Filtr which can remove ads and trackers in _all_ applications (all while preserving perfect privacy); it’s not a VPN either so you can keep using VPNs as you like.

Reason #82,249 why you should have an adblocker https://www.wired.com/story/nightmare-scenario-zero-click-spyware-is-infecting-phones-via-targeted-ads/

Wearing a Casio CA53W calculator watch today! These look extremely cool but have some major downsides such as no backlight and being not really waterproof; plus tiny display.

Good outside though and of course if you need to compute things on the go.

Some people mod them to add backlights.

"People with long COVID have a ‘drastically’ different oral microbiome"

A study of 771 people hospitalised with COVID found those with severe Long COVID had altered mouth and airway bacteria, linked to brain fog, lung and gut problems. It's unclear if changes came before or after infection. Earlier research (2023) found COVID can reduce oral microbiome diversity.

Looking for some remote contract work to tide me over for the next 3-6 months. AU or further afield.

My “home” is Ruby / JS web apps, but I’ve done lots of things with Go and Elixir too.

I can work with all the different kinds of robots.

Contact me if you’ve got a lead.
