The #WikipediaBus is touring Germany for the 25th anniversary of #Wikipedia! If you missed the Stuttgart stop, there are still several cities to go:
- May 9, Münster
- May 30, Hamburg
- June 6, Berlin (MV)
- June 20, Köln
- July 11, München
- September 18, Regensburg
Check https://wikipedia25.de for details. It's a great opportunity to learn about Wikipedia, Wikidata, and the Wikimedia community. I super recommend it!
The Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart has a very special architecture. The building is like a cube with small rectangular windows. A glass ceiling on top allows natural light to enter—it is probably the floor of the upper levels of the library. Visiting the library is interesting by itself.
The first time I visited it after years of living in Stuttgart. @Ayenkantun and I plan to visit it with calm in another day.

I also got gifts from Wikimedia 😃. A pair of socks with Wikipedia jigsaw motifs. A deck of playing cards. This is not a usual one; the figures are historical card pictures and have references to their sources in Wikimedia Commons. I got a beautiful "Wikipedia 25" anniversary cup with a wooden lid and a picture of the universe. Notice the detail: in Germany, cups can have lids for the dust and to preserve the liquid temperature, especially for beer cups.
I also included in the picture the event badge and a custom pin with my Wikipedia username. If you visit one of the following events, you may try to find a stand where you can create your own pin.
Thanks to the organizers for this great event! The Stuttgart Wikipedia community was also super friendly. I fully recommend people living in Stuttgart to join them.
The journalistic team from SimTech published news from this event on the university website.
@daniel the deck of cards looks really nice! I really like the idea of having an extract from an article on each card.
In France, each of the court cards has a name which refers to a historical or legendary figure (the king of spades is David, the king of clubs is Alexander, and so on). This would make them even more interesting imo
@daniel genial!
@Alejandro_P I am asking below.
@wikimediaDE It appears that the visits of the Wikipedia Bus to Berlin are not mentioned on the following page: https://www.wikimedia.de/wikipedia25/bustour/. Why? Were they cancelled?
@daniel @wikimediaDE it looks like @wikimediaDE is not really active here
Maybe OG @wikipedia knows?
@Alejandro_P @daniel @wikipedia Hi! Actually, we weren’t able to make the planned stop in Berlin. We wanted to visit re:publica, but unfortunately we couldn’t get the necessary permits. But we plan to keep traveling by bus in the coming years even after the main tour, and we’ll definitely make a stop in Berlin then. Best regards
@wikimediaDE @daniel @wikipedia bummer :(
