After a few months of use, I maybe should blog about how my Pocketbook Verse Pro Color replaced the Kindle Paperwhite with no books lost because I converted all my Amazon ebooks before the download cutoff date. But there’s not much to say. The Verse Pro Color is a wonderful device but you cannot convert your Amazon collection the way I did anymore. Le sigh.
If you spot a mistake or typo in my toots, feel free to send me a DM. You can also post a public reply, but DM is nicer, as it doesn’t clutter the publicly visible thread. I promise to react fast and will reply when fixed.
Trump said during todays meeting with German chancellor Merz that maybe Russia and Ukraine should fight it out a bit longer before stepping in, just like you do when young kids are fighting.
A few hours later the world looks at the Musk v Trump mudslinging and thinks "maybe those two should just fight it out a bit longer before someone steps in."
I am sure somebody already made some sort of tool that can go through your website and tell you which CSS rules you can safely delete as they are never used.
Kinda weird that bootstrap.min.css is more than 120KB in size. I guess I will have to relearn modern CSS to come up with an absolute minimal css for my template themes. The CSS is now typically 3-10x bigger than the HTML.
So there's a new disclosure on how Facebook/Meta and Yandex used local ports on Android devices to track and de-anonymise users since years (Apple iOS seems to not be affected, Android only)
Q: Why did Facebook stop using this technique on the day of your public release?
A: We don’t know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, but we're happy to see that Android users are no longer affected by this type abuse after our disclosure (for now).
While the ST was a beast at the time (remember the slogan? "Power without the price!") and I used it for a lot of things, I wasn't the biggest fan of 68000 assembly (remember, I was 16 years old at the time I got my ST) and still preferred to get lost in 6502 assembly on the XL :) All those notebooks full of hand-written assembly are now gone, unfortunately.
Happy 40th birthday to the Atari ST, my third computer. First was an Atari 400, after that the 800XL and then came the mighty 1040STF.
The first prototype reused the "Cray" tower from the Gaza project, BTW.
(and yes, I still have my 1040STf, with the SM124 b/w monitor and it still works :)

Seems my home country, the Netherlands, now has a chance to undo the damage caused by voting for a populist wannabe emperor that wears no clothes. Geert Wilders leaves the governing coalition.
So based on my knowledge, I want to applaud these citizens because they did the one right thing. Take the street and show these thugs they are not welcome. At all. Push them back, show them out. Yell at them. Don't accept this. Thank you.
Reality check. While the people in San Diego’s South Park neighborhood managed to force Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to withdraw, I want to focus your attention on how they look. Like soldiers invading their own country. That is why I use the term #Brownshirts, a reference to the violent Nazi thugs, roaming the streets in Germany in the 1920/30s. Some people say that's too harsh, I say I studied history for reasons
Damn. Will #MCP (Model Context Protocol) cause the end of publicly accessible APIs through what will look like DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) when everyone and the kitchen sink sets their Agentic AI free? I didn't think about that angle. https://mastodon.social/@bagder/114612459724791499
Addendum: possible explanation is that they were placed close to their target more than a year ago, patiently waiting to strike. Which would explain the weird date/time displayed. This article claims to show how the drones were prepared and packed for that. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/06/1/7515065/

*IF* these videos of Ukrainian drones attacking Russian bombers deep inside Russia are real, it seems to show how they manage to bring the drones very close to the target (with a truck?) as the screenshot seems to show the drone battery being at 99%. And also: they fly with #OpenSource :) https://Ardupilot.org
