    unpoopular opinion, but I do think there's a distinction between "give claude a prompt describing the outcome you want, activate agent mode and let it run wild, treat its generated tests as good enough and ship it yesterday" and using it in other ways that involve the human mind more, but help to navigate more challenging to read aspects of c++, and making sure the output fits in, makes sense, and won't waste anyone's time or annoy anyone... I guess thats basically reverse centaur vs centaur?

    that said, there's no economic value (imo) in the reverse centaur use case, and the reverse centaur is the thing propping up valuations for these companies. it just does not make sense to operate that way... and it goes beyond software, I don't think it makes sense to reverse centaur works of art/culture, engineering, policy, anything.

    but maybe efficiency is actually not the point, too, maybe there isn't even a real use case for the centaur, if we care about being the best we can be

    we _should_ care about being the best we can be, because what else is there? We should strive to be healthy, to survive, and to enjoy our survival, and being able to survive includes being able to do hard things without the assistance of a computer model. Like, using an insulin lump is great(imperfect), but if something happens to the vendor, I need to be able to survive without it, right? If I'm too dependent on the technology, I'm fucked if I lose it, which could easily happen

    there should be hard limits on how dependent we're willing to be on commodities, in an unstable world where anything can happen. So, maybe these models can help get us to a place where we're further along than we were without them, but if we can't operatevwithout them, then they didn't really get us anywhere, if that makes sense. anyway, im rambling, probably not very coherently. if you have to use claude to interpret me, I get it
