That's a great question, and you're very perceptive for asking. Would you like me to give you an outline on how to be a better person and not be such a fucking coconut?

also goes for any other creative endeavor, just do it >_<

people who say they wish they took up guitar and took it more seriously;

if you can find a few hours a week, if you can get a cheap shitty temu guitar or a handmedown or that one youve had since you were 10, if you can put time into practicing songs you want to play, make mistakes over and over, and keep trying again, and don't compare yourself to people on tiktok or whatever

you'll find that eventually it's easy

there should be hard limits on how dependent we're willing to be on commodities, in an unstable world where anything can happen. So, maybe these models can help get us to a place where we're further along than we were without them, but if we can't operatevwithout them, then they didn't really get us anywhere, if that makes sense. anyway, im rambling, probably not very coherently. if you have to use claude to interpret me, I get it

we _should_ care about being the best we can be, because what else is there? We should strive to be healthy, to survive, and to enjoy our survival, and being able to survive includes being able to do hard things without the assistance of a computer model. Like, using an insulin lump is great(imperfect), but if something happens to the vendor, I need to be able to survive without it, right? If I'm too dependent on the technology, I'm fucked if I lose it, which could easily happen

that said, there's no economic value (imo) in the reverse centaur use case, and the reverse centaur is the thing propping up valuations for these companies. it just does not make sense to operate that way... and it goes beyond software, I don't think it makes sense to reverse centaur works of art/culture, engineering, policy, anything.

but maybe efficiency is actually not the point, too, maybe there isn't even a real use case for the centaur, if we care about being the best we can be

unpoopular opinion, but I do think there's a distinction between "give claude a prompt describing the outcome you want, activate agent mode and let it run wild, treat its generated tests as good enough and ship it yesterday" and using it in other ways that involve the human mind more, but help to navigate more challenging to read aspects of c++, and making sure the output fits in, makes sense, and won't waste anyone's time or annoy anyone... I guess thats basically reverse centaur vs centaur?

accidentally

I hope every AI booster accidentally falls down every flight of stairs in an escher piece

To me, the point of Capt. Picard, really the point of all Star Trek, is that we have to make principled decisions even when they are difficult or dangerous. We won’t all do it in the same way and we won’t always succeed — the point is to try.

Too often these days it seems like we don’t even try. We make convenience or efficiency our first principles or don’t even pretend to have any. Let’s take today’s loss as a sign it’s time to fix that.

am I allowed to say bryan adams songwriting is cringe? I mean I get it, but..

it might be kind of cringe songwriting, but that new Bryan Adams is pretty catchy

do you think email could be replaced, with a compatibility layer that makes the replacement work for hotmail rideordies?

Which is why it fuckin rules that the EU is coming at us with the essentially carbon taxes on our shit. if we weren't going to do it ourselves, fuckin someone had to. Finally an incentive to stop fuckin cancelling green energy projects

really getting places in the guitar mines today! pretty clean and feeling pretty natural through the entire keyboard theme at 110bpm, or at least up to the climax
