What I like very much about this book is that nobody behaves as if they're in a book. They're just living their lives. I'm David Attenborough hiding in the bush, describing things. I mentioned in an interview that I envisioned the trilogy as fantasy travelogues. #JoyfullyAchieved.

This series of books is breathtaking. By definition. Here's a sample sentence from Breath, Warmth, and Dream that left me breathless.

How true is that? VERY TRUE.
--and yet the storytelling is the opposite of preachy. It's just deeply, compassionately observant. Reminds me of Ashitaka in Princess Mononoke, who wanted to look at things with eyes unclouded by hate. (Or one might just say: with eyes unclouded.)
