I watched the Milwaukee Brewers play in the World Series last night and last week. I am not a baseball person or a sports watching person. How do people who have a full time job, run a part-time business, have multiple hobbies, and other responsibilities have time to watch sports!?
Oh wait...
Is sports a distraction to keep us from creative endeavors and from doing other things that might be productive or bring about positive change in the world? Maybe...
I guess sports does/can bring people together, and I guess it's entertainment, bit it can also be a distraction.
Hopefully this World Series thing is over tonight because I have a client deadline this week and I can't spend much more time watching this ludicrous display.
Oct 27, 2026, 4:13 PM@rasterweb Bread and Circuses, imho. Professional sports (and I include NCAA Div I in this too) are the Circus part of that equation. They're a distraction and another way to siphon our money into the pockets of the ultra rich.
@rasterweb That's what the Romans used it for.
